“So how are you liking your new gig so far?” is a question I get asked when catching up with old friends…and one I welcome.
Making a career change can be daunting at the best of times but when it’s time, it’s time. I came to Nucleus 6 months ago and from the interview, to the onboarding, to the bombarding of “Welcome Sam!” messages on Slack, I had a feeling I made the right move. To avoid this sounding too much like an advertisement for Nucleus (and I promise this is #notsponsored) I want to tell you a little bit about myself.
Hey, I’m Sam and I’m the gal behind Nucleus’ social media, events and Nucleus’ resident Nerf gun target. These past 6 months have flown by in the best of ways. It’s never easy being the new kid but I have never been so warmly welcomed by a group of people in my life…and the thing that made it so special was that it was so genuine.
You hear a lot these days about companies who focus so much on “startup culture” and fall short when it comes down to actual leadership and employee happiness. While ping pong tables and beer Friday’s are appreciated…employees want to work for companies who also understand the value of maintaining a great office culture by championing growth and fostering respect. The great thing I’ve experienced at Nucleus are the initiatives and the training programs the managers THEMSELVES take part in and the trickledown effect onto us Nucleus staff is noticed. I mean come on, I have 2 awesome coworkers who have been here for 12 years. The old “work hard, play hard” sentiment applies to every aspect of this office and it has been amazing working alongside people I now call friends.
What’s keeping me busy at Nucleus? Well, coming from a PR background myself I understand the importance of brand recognition and have been loving working with Nucleus’ President Martin on ramping up our online presence. We have a lot of exciting developments coming up and I am so happy to be a part of the continued success of Nucleus.
